Port Clerk - Import/Export Customs Clearance

About the role

Q-Sourcing, a manpower management firm operating across East Africa, is recruiting a Port Clerk on behalf of its client to work in Kenya. The role coordinates import and export shipments' customs clearance and handling at ports, inland container depots (ICDs) and airports, supporting logistics functions in line with client, customer and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with customs and local authority requirements for air and ocean imports and exports, including document submission, verification, customs inspections, permits and cargo collection
• Maintain 100% compliance of shipment documents and assist in drafting Customs Entries for review before submission
• Collect documents from port and airport handling sheds, capture draft entries in the customs system and follow up on approvals and releases
• Manage parcels, documents and letters, obtain signatures and dispatch documentation within scheduled timelines
• Liaise with inspection authorities and port, airport and ICD authorities to speed up clearance, and keep the operations team informed of progress, delays and inspections
• Ensure proper handling of documents, alignment with import/export SOPs and accurate record keeping

Required profile

• Certificate in Customs Administration
• Freight Forwarding Practicing Certificate
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in clearing and forwarding
• Valid driving licence or motorcycle licence
