Principal ICT Officer

About the role

The National Quality Control Laboratory (NQCL) is recruiting a Principal Information Communication Technology Officer for a full-time management-level position in Nairobi. The post leads IT systems and infrastructure. Applications close on 16 November 2026.

Key responsibilities

• Implement ICT policies, guidelines, procedures and standards
• Install and maintain computer systems
• Develop and update application systems
• Carry out system analysis, design and software specifications in liaison with users
• Repair and maintain ICT equipment and peripherals, and draw up hardware specifications
• Verify, validate and certify ICT equipment
• Implement computer systems, provide user support and train users
• Produce technical, systems and user documentation

Required profile

• Cumulative 9 years of relevant work experience, 3 of them in the grade of Senior ICT Officer or a comparable position
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, ICT, Business Information Technology or an equivalent field
• Relevant ICT certifications such as CCNP, MCSE, CISA, CISSP or Prince 2
• Management course of at least 4 weeks from a recognised institution
• Proficiency in computer applications
