Procurement Officer

About the role

The Rift Valley Technical Training Institute is seeking a full‑time Procurement Officer to lead its procurement activities, ensuring alignment with the institution’s budget and strategic goals.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and implement the annual procurement plan in line with budget and strategy.
• Advise management on procurement policies, best practices and risk management per PPAD A 2015, Regulation 2020 and PPRA.
• Ensure correct specifications and authorized requisitions from users.
• Prepare tender documents for goods, works and services.
• Maintain up‑to‑date records of stores, machinery and equipment.
• Use a pre‑qualified supplier list and liaise with suppliers for timely deliveries.
• Supervise departmental staff and coordinate hand‑over of procurement documents to finance for payment.
• Oversee stock taking, stock control and verification of materials.
• Collect feedback from service end‑users and respond appropriately.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Procurement or Supply Chain Management from a recognized university.
• Member in good standing of the Kenya Institute of Supplies Management (KISM).
• Valid practising licence.
• At least 7 years of procurement officer experience in a comparable institution.
• Kenyan citizenship, aged 35 years or older.
