Professor – Psychology

About the role

Zetech University in Nairobi is recruiting a Professor of Psychology. The role combines teaching, research and supervision of postgraduate students, with academic activities aligned to the standards of the Nursing Council of Kenya.

Key responsibilities

• Teach in areas allocated by the Head of Department, designing, developing, planning and delivering programmes of study, including new courses at various levels.
• Deliver high-quality lectures and practicals, and review course content regularly.
• Oversee clinical practice, giving students real-world learning experiences and guidelines in hospitals or clinical settings.
• Collaborate with colleagues on course development, curriculum changes and research activities.
• Carry out research, write grant proposals, seek and take part in consultancies, and present papers at national and international conferences.
• Provide mentorship and career guidance to students and staff.
• Ensure academic activities meet the standards of the Nursing Council of Kenya and perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Required profile

• PhD or Doctorate in Psychology or an equivalent accredited degree; alternatively a Master's or a Bachelor of Science in Psychology or a relevant field.
• At least three years of university-level teaching or research experience as a Senior Lecturer.
• At least 120 publication points and supervision of at least six postgraduate students, two at doctoral level to completion.
• Contributions to academic conferences, seminars and workshops, and evidence of academic and research leadership through teaching and joint publications.
• Membership of relevant professional bodies and evidence of attracting research funds as an Associate Professor or Associate Research Professor.
