Program Officer – Disaster Management

About the role

The Program Officer – Disaster Management will support the design, implementation and monitoring of disaster risk reduction and emergency response projects for World Vision in Kenya. The role contributes to achieving improved child wellbeing outcomes in line with donor requirements and the WVK National Office Strategy for FY26‑30.

Key responsibilities

• Design, manage and report on disaster management programmes, ensuring log‑frames, M&E plans and narrative reports meet donor and stakeholder expectations.
• Monitor project progress, analyse emerging humanitarian risks and ensure timely roll‑out of grants and compliance with grant requirements.
• Provide technical support for data analysis, monitoring tools standardisation and documentation of lessons learned.
• Lead resource acquisition activities, develop funding proposals and coordinate donor budget negotiations.
• Represent World Vision Kenya in national disaster management forums, build partnerships with government, UN agencies and other INGOs, and facilitate donor engagement.
• Support capacity building through training design and delivery for the National Disaster Management Team and related committees.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of INGO experience in programme implementation, preferably in fragile or emergency contexts.
• Strong understanding of disaster management, anticipatory actions and humanitarian coordination mechanisms.
• Experience in resource mobilisation, grant programming and donor compliance.
• Ability to engage strategically with senior government officials, UN agencies and other partners.
• Excellent budgetary, financial management and organisational skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with computer software for data management and reporting.
