Project Officer – Child Protection (FGM & Child Marriage)

About the role

The Project Officer will provide technical leadership for the child protection component of the Kenya Big Dream project, focusing on preventing female genital mutilation (FGM) and child marriage. The role involves community mobilisation, awareness‑raising, and strengthening formal child‑protection systems across Marsabit County.

Key responsibilities

• Design, plan and implement child‑protection interventions in line with best‑practice models.
• Ensure business processes, standards and guidelines are applied throughout project execution and monitoring.
• Prepare work plans, budgets and activity plans for the child‑protection component.
• Lead community mobilisation, awareness campaigns and the integration of Alternative Rites of Passage.
• Strengthen local anti‑FGM movements and empower women, men, youth and circumcisers.
• Support the development of safe, protective environments for children and reinforce national and county child‑protection systems.
• Monitor, report and evaluate project outcomes against set indicators.

Required profile

• Relevant degree or equivalent experience in child protection, gender integration or humanitarian programming.
• Proven experience working on FGM and child‑marriage interventions, preferably in Kenya.
• Ability to work in remote, multicultural settings and engage diverse stakeholders.
• Commitment to World Vision’s Christian values and professional ethics.
