Quantity Surveyor – Cost Planning & Contract Management

About the role

We are looking for a detail‑oriented Quantity Surveyor to lead cost planning, procurement and financial control across large‑scale residential complexes and warehouse projects. The role combines technical estimation, contract administration and risk management to keep projects on budget and on schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare preliminary cost estimates, feasibility studies and detailed budgets for all design stages.
• Develop Bills of Quantities (BoQ) and tender documentation, and advise on cost‑efficient materials and construction methods.
• Assist in contractor and subcontractor selection, evaluate bids and negotiate contract terms.
• Monitor project expenditures, forecast final costs, conduct interim valuations and certify progress payments.
• Administer contracts (FIDIC, JCT, NEC), manage variations, change orders and resolve claims or disputes.
• Identify financial risks, implement value‑engineering measures and support sustainability and lifecycle costing initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Building Economics or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
• Registered with the Board of Registered Architects and Quantity Surveyors of Kenya (BORAQS) or equivalent; RICS membership desirable.
• Minimum five years of site‑based experience on large residential or industrial warehouse projects.
• Proven expertise with FIDIC contract conditions and solid knowledge of the Kenyan construction market.
