Real Estate Accountant – Remote

About the role

You will serve as the financial backbone of a fast‑growing real estate development business, providing accurate accounting and insightful financial reporting to support strategic decisions. This remote position offers the chance to work with an international team while handling property and trust accounting, corporate finance, and tax coordination.

Key responsibilities

• Manage trust accounts, ensuring compliance with regulations and handling rent collections, delinquency tracking, and security deposits.
• Process accounts payable for vendors, utilities, and other expenses.
• Prepare owner distributions, statements, and monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Perform bank reconciliations across all accounts and improve accounting workflows as the portfolio expands.
• Support tax reporting, including 1099 preparation and coordination with external CPAs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 3–5+ years of general accounting experience.
• 2+ years of experience in real estate or property‑management accounting (preferred).
• Strong attention to detail and a growth‑mindset.

Required skills

• Proficiency with AppFolio, Buildium, Yardi, or similar property‑management platforms.
• Experience using QuickBooks.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Knowledge of trust accounting and real‑estate regulations.
