Receivable Accountant (International School)

About the role

An international school in Nairobi, Kenya is looking for an experienced Receivable Accountant to manage student fee accounts, collections and debtor management. The successful candidate ensures accurate billing, timely collections, effective account reconciliation and up-to-date student financial records, supporting the school's cash flow objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and post student fee invoices accurately and within agreed timelines.
• Process and allocate fee payments received through various payment channels and update accounts promptly.
• Respond to parent inquiries about fees, account balances and billing discrepancies.
• Monitor and follow up on overdue accounts to maximise collections and reduce outstanding debt.
• Reconcile parent accounts and investigate discrepancies.
• Generate aged debtors' reports and cash collection reports for management review.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field.
• Full CPA(K) or ACCA qualification.
• At least 3 years of accounting experience, including at least 2 years in Accounts Receivable, Credit Control or Debtor Management.
• Strong knowledge of accounts receivable processes, collections and account reconciliation.

Required skills

• Experience with ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications.
• Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail and ability to keep accurate financial records.
