Recruitment & Training Officer - Private Security

About the role

A leading private security firm in Nairobi, working through its recruiter, is looking for a disciplined, physically fit and results-oriented Recruitment & Training Officer based in Lavington. The officer oversees the recruitment, screening, vetting, training and performance monitoring of security personnel, ensuring guards meet standards of integrity, discipline, fitness, competence and operational readiness before deployment. The role suits people with practical experience in private security, the National Youth Service or disciplined forces.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate recruitment drives for security guards, screen applicants against set criteria and keep accurate candidate records.
• Carry out vetting and background checks, verify National Identification documents and Certificates of Good Conduct, and escalate any discrepancies.
• Deliver theoretical training and practical physical drills in line with PSRA requirements, identify training gaps and arrange refresher training.
• Monitor staff during probation, evaluate performance after deployment, recommend corrective actions and support discipline and adherence to operational standards.

Required profile

• Diploma in Security Management, Criminology or a related field.
• At least 3 years of experience in private security operations, NYS or disciplined forces.
• Good knowledge of security operations and personnel management, and understanding of Kenyan labour laws and security regulations.
• Physical fitness and the ability to lead practical training drills.
