Job description

About the role

WEL is recruiting a Regional Coordinator for its North Rift office (Uasin Gishu, Nandi, Baringo, Trans Nzoia) to support a 5-year programme that removes barriers to financial inclusion and creates economic opportunities for financially disadvantaged young people in Kenya's agriculture sector. The role works closely with the Programme Manager and the teams on planning, implementation and monitoring, and externally positions WEL as a leading provider of interventions for women and youth, especially young women entrepreneurs.

Key responsibilities

  • Support SACCOs and youth groups in tailoring their operations, financial services and products to the needs of young, financially disadvantaged entrepreneurs in the agricultural value chains.
  • Help SACCOs offer gender-responsive products and services and provide training so young women can take up leadership roles within SACCOs.
  • Support other groups and SACCOs in addressing gender barriers.
  • Work with the Programme Manager and internal teams (Gender Development, MEAL, Communications, HR and Operations) on project activities.

Required profile

  • Bachelor's degree in agriculture, management, social sciences, social work or development studies.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience, preferably in the NGO sector, including 1 year in field officer positions; experience in a multicultural context is essential.
  • Proven experience with financial inclusion projects and in high-poverty settings; experience with women, girls and SACCOs is an advantage.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, under pressure and tight deadlines, and to travel frequently.

Required skills

  • Training in gender development, human rights-based approach, project planning and management, participatory methods, monitoring and evaluation is highly desired.
  • In-depth understanding of gender development, access to finance, human rights-based approach and national-level policy work.
  • Sound knowledge of reporting and advocacy.

Candidates apply by sending a CV (maximum 3 pages) and a cover letter stating salary expectations to the organisation's recruitment team; the deadline is 12 June 2026. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
