Transcription Writer

About the role

Eagleweb Company is looking for a detail-oriented Transcription Writer to turn supplied audio and video recordings into accurate, readable written documents. The role is based in Nakuru, Kenya, and suits someone who can work independently while meeting clear quality and delivery expectations. Work arrangements and assignment volumes depend on available projects and client requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Listen to recordings and produce accurate transcripts, preserving meaning, sequence and speaker changes
• Review and proofread transcripts for spelling, grammar, punctuation and consistency
• Research unfamiliar terms when needed and flag unclear audio rather than guessing
• Apply project-specific formatting, timestamps and transcription conventions
• Organize files securely, track assignments and deliver work within agreed deadlines
• Communicate promptly about audio quality, workload or clarification needs

Required profile

• Strong written English with accurate spelling, grammar, punctuation and sentence structure
• Careful listening and ability to capture spoken content faithfully, including speaker turns and non-speech details
• Good research and verification habits for names, terminology and unfamiliar subjects
• Excellent attention to detail and consistency when proofreading long documents
• Time management skills to prioritize assignments and meet deadlines
• Professional handling of confidential recordings and file management
• Clear communication, willingness to ask questions about unclear audio, and ability to work independently

Required skills

• Proficiency with word-processing tools and basic document formatting
• Efficient use of audio playback controls (pause, rewind, variable speed)
