About the role

The Regional Supervisory Investigator leads a team of investigators within OSHA, ensuring that whistleblower and safety investigations are conducted efficiently, legally, and in line with agency priorities. This senior position balances workload, mentors staff, and collaborates with external agencies to protect worker rights.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise a group of investigators, allocate and balance workload, and adjust assignments to meet strategic and statutory deadlines.
• Advise the Assistant Regional Administrator on performance and conduct issues, recommending remedial actions as needed.
• Evaluate subordinates' work performance and provide guidance on both operational and administrative matters.
• Negotiate voluntary settlement agreements in whistleblower cases and coordinate complex investigations with federal, state, local, or private agencies.
• Review investigative files for protocol compliance, legal sufficiency, and alignment with OSHA policies.
• Conduct the most complex whistleblower investigations and work with the Regional Solicitor to develop cases and coordinate hearings.
• Assess Freedom of Information Act requests for accuracy and appropriateness of disclosure.
• Identify procedural deviations, recommend changes, and advise on final complaint dispositions.

Required profile

• U.S. citizenship and minimum age of 16.
• Ability to obtain required security clearance and meet financial disclosure obligations.
• Completion of a supervisory probationary period if not previously satisfied.
• At least 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to the GS‑12 level, including reviewing OSHA statutes, analyzing whistleblower data, and negotiating sensitive situations.
