Regulatory Counsel – Senior Legal Leadership

About the role

ASIC is seeking a Regulatory Counsel to lead high‑performing legal teams across its regulatory functions. This senior leadership position will provide strategic, complex, and expert legal advice on digital and data initiatives, registry operations, and regulatory policy.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, develop and mentor senior legal professionals delivering high‑quality advice.
• Provide independent, strategic counsel to senior stakeholders on regulatory, registry and technology matters.
• Oversee complex legal projects, including law reform, legislative instruments and high‑risk issues.
• Build strong stakeholder relationships across ASIC to support informed decision‑making.
• Report regularly to the Deputy General Counsel on progress, risks and objectives.
• Drive continuous improvement, innovation and capability uplift within Legal Services.

Required profile

• Relevant legal qualifications and eligibility to hold a practising certificate.
• Extensive experience in regulatory, corporate or public‑sector law.
• Proven leadership experience managing senior legal teams.
• Strong analytical and risk‑management skills.
