Relationship Manager – SME Banking

About the role

The Relationship Manager, SME Banking will build and maintain strong business banking relationships with SME clients in Nairobi, driving portfolio growth and delivering sustainable revenue for the bank.

Key responsibilities

• Grow the number of active business banking clients and deepen share of wallet across the portfolio.
• Identify cross‑sell opportunities and increase wealth product penetration per client.
• Maintain portfolio quality, disciplined credit standards and strong risk‑adjusted returns.
• Provide outstanding client experience through responsive service and proactive portfolio management.
• Develop long‑term relationships with business owners and decision‑makers, understanding their funding, transaction banking and risk management needs.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of SME banking experience with a proven track record of acquiring and growing client relationships.
• Strong commercial instinct and ability to translate client needs into banking and wealth solutions.
• Experience in wealth management, commercial banking or investment banking is preferred.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced, performance‑driven environment and collaborate across product teams.

Required skills

• Relationship management and business development with business owners and senior decision‑makers.
• Knowledge of wealth products, cash management and working capital solutions.
• Strong market awareness, commercial acumen and ability to identify sector‑specific opportunities and risks.
