Release of Information Specialist (Mon–Fri, 8am‑4:30pm)

About the role

The Release of Information (ROI) Specialist I works within the VitalChart department of VRC to process medical record requests efficiently while safeguarding patient privacy. This role ensures compliance with HIPAA and other statutes, delivering high‑quality service to healthcare clients.

Key responsibilities

• Process Continuing Care and Disability Determination Services requests, with cross‑training on additional request types.
• Validate patient authorizations and ensure HIPAA compliance.
• Retrieve, upload, and release requested portions of medical charts from electronic or physical repositories.
• Perform quality‑control checks to prevent PHI breaches and verify invoicing accuracy.
• Log requests in ROI software, classify request types, and reject non‑compliant requests.
• Communicate regularly with the ROI Area Manager or Team Leader regarding quality, connectivity, and client concerns.
