Research and Evaluations Lead for Tupande Impact

About the role

The Tupande Research and Evaluations Lead will oversee all research, evaluation, and learning functions within Tupande, ensuring projects meet stakeholder needs and contribute to impact strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Lead in‑country impact evaluations, from theory of change to study design and data collection tools.
• Own analysis, reporting, and automation of impact data, developing analytical frameworks.
• Establish and improve quality‑assurance processes for monitoring and reporting.
• Collaborate with program teams to ensure findings are understood and acted upon.
• Provide thought leadership on impact strategy and explore new impact opportunities.
• Manage department budgeting, staffing, hiring, development, and performance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in economics, statistics or related field (Master’s preferred).
• At least five years of experience designing and implementing evaluations in the developing world.
• Strong analytical and statistical expertise, including experimental and quasi‑experimental designs.
• Proven project management skills handling multiple complex projects.
• Excellent written communication and ability to engage diplomatically with partners.
• Willingness to live in East Africa for a minimum of two years.
