Revenue Accountant

About the role

Valley Hospital, a leading Level 4 hospital in Nakuru, is seeking a qualified and results‑oriented Revenue Accountant to join its Finance Department. The role ensures accurate recognition, recording, reconciliation and reporting of hospital revenue while overseeing cashiering operations and strengthening revenue controls.

Key responsibilities

• Record and reconcile revenue from all hospital services, including inpatient, outpatient, pharmacy, laboratory and diagnostics.
• Reconcile daily collections with hospital management system records and bank deposits, investigating discrepancies.
• Verify cashier receipts, classify income by service line and payment method, and supervise cashiering operations.
• Prepare periodic revenue reports by department and payer category to support financial planning.
• Conduct revenue variance analysis, identify leakages and recommend corrective measures.
• Maintain documentation and audit trails for revenue transactions and ensure compliance with accounting standards and hospital policies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance or related field.
• CPA qualification (minimum Section 4).
• At least three years of relevant experience in a similarly sized organization.
• Strong understanding of internal controls, audit requirements and financial compliance.
• Ability to supervise and support cashiering teams.

Required skills

• Proficiency with accounting software.
• Experience using hospital management systems, particularly billing and revenue reporting modules.
