Sales and Operations Lead – Events & Conferences

About the role

The Sales and Operations Lead will drive business generation and oversee day‑to‑day operations of a new resort and conference destination in Naivasha. This entrepreneurial role balances proactive sales development with hands‑on execution of events and guest experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Prospect, engage and secure bookings from corporate, NGO, government and private clients; lead site inspections and close major group accounts.
• Partner with Marketing to create and price conferencing, team‑building and staycation packages.
• Personally oversee operational execution during major conferences and events, ensuring service standards exceed contract terms.
• Implement a flexible staffing model using cross‑trained core staff and casual labour to scale with event volume.
• Drive occupancy and revenue, monitor conversion rates, average spend and event profitability, and prepare regular sales forecasts.
• Work with Finance to keep operations within budget, track deposits, payments and contracts, and provide operational updates to management.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Hospitality Management, Hotel Management, Business Administration, Marketing or related field.
• 4‑5 years hands‑on experience in conference sales or high‑volume event operations.
• 2‑3 years supervisory or management experience in a resort hospitality environment.
• Proven track record of achieving sales targets and building corporate client networks.

Required skills

• Experience with hotel Property Management Systems (PMS).
• Familiarity with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tools.
• Use of sales reporting or event management systems.
