Sales Store Clerk – Visitor Services

About the role

The National Archives and Records Administration is seeking a Sales Store Clerk to support visitor services at a Presidential Library and Museum. The role combines front‑line customer interaction, ticketing, and retail sales with occasional clerical support for library operations.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain visitor attendance records and manage online ticketing.
• Respond to oral and written inquiries about hours, admission fees, merchandise, and museum exhibits.
• Show orientation films and provide information on library and historic site operations.
• Operate the museum sales store desk, handling cash, credit transactions, and merchandise sales.
• Plan, create, and implement display projects in the store with minimal supervision.
• Address day‑to‑day problems independently when a supervisor is unavailable.
• Perform routine clerical duties across other library areas as needed.

Required profile

• U.S. citizen or national.
• Ability to pass a background investigation and complete federal employment declarations.
• Willingness to register with the Selective Service System if male and born after 12/31/1959.
• Capability to work primarily while standing or sitting, with occasional bending, reaching, and lifting of medium‑weight items.
• One year of relevant experience (full‑time or prorated part‑time) in customer service, retail, or related fields.
