Sectional IP Network Engineer – Field (Central)

About the role

This field‑based IP network engineering position is responsible for maintaining the availability and reliability of MSAN nodes across the Nairobi region. You will perform power‑system maintenance, respond to faults, and implement ISDN and PSTN circuit changes while coordinating with internal teams and customers to ensure uninterrupted service.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out scheduled and preventive power maintenance on assigned MSAN nodes, monitor power autonomy and provide monthly status recommendations to keep availability above KPI thresholds.
• Diagnose and resolve power‑related faults on MSAN and switch sites within agreed SLAs, coordinating restoration steps and keeping customers informed.
• Manage feasibility checks, implementation, disconnection and reconnection of ISDN and PSTN circuits at the MSAN level, ensuring rapid billing‑related reconnections.
• Complete customer setup documentation accurately and maintain records supporting provisioning and assurance activities.
• Follow health, safety and environmental policies, engineering standards and legal requirements to maintain a safe working environment.
• Track network‑related expenses, capture fuel usage within monthly limits and submit power meter readings to finance on time.
• Monitor personal performance against targets and suggest improvements to boost efficiency and network quality.
• Perform additional technical or administrative duties assigned by the line manager to support the broader technology team.

Required profile

• Diploma in a relevant technical field (bachelor’s degree preferred).
• Mandatory experience in IP network engineering, field work and power‑system maintenance.
• Ability to work on‑site in Nairobi County and adhere to SLA commitments.
