Sectional IP Network Engineer – Field

About the role

This hands‑on field engineering position is part of the technology department, responsible for maintaining the health and reliability of MSAN nodes across the Nairobi network. The engineer works on‑site to ensure power systems are stable, quickly resolves faults, and manages ISDN and PSTN circuit provisioning for customers.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine preventive maintenance on MSAN node power supplies and related equipment to meet uptime targets.
• Diagnose and fix power‑related faults at assigned MSAN and switch sites within SLA timeframes.
• Provide timely status updates to customers during service restoration.
• Conduct feasibility studies, installations, and reconfigurations of ISDN and PSTN circuits, including billing‑related disconnections and reconnections.
• Maintain accurate documentation of customer setups, circuit records, and site visit outcomes.
• Track monthly fuel budgets, capture power meter readings, and submit reports to finance.
• Follow HSE guidelines, engineering standards, and legal regulations to ensure a safe work environment.
• Monitor personal KPIs such as fault resolution time, provisioning completion, and network cost targets, recommending improvements.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or Higher Diploma in Telecommunications, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Mandatory experience in field network engineering or similar technical role.
