Senior Accountant - Manufacturing

About the role

A manufacturing company in Kenya is looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accountant with a strong background in manufacturing and cost accounting. The role oversees financial operations, ensures accurate cost management and leads the receivables, payables and cost accounting functions while giving financial advice to management.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations and prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports, ensuring compliance with KRA VAT and tax obligations.
• Lead cost accounting, including product costing, variance analysis and cost control, and monitor production costs with production teams to track raw materials and finished goods.
• Manage accounts receivable and payable, monitor cash flow and working capital, and implement controls to reduce outstanding debts and optimise supplier payments.
• Advise management on profitability and cost optimisation, support decisions with financial analysis and forecasting, and identify financial risks.
• Work with procurement, production and operations teams, and ensure proper documentation and financial controls across business units.
• Manage bank relationships, reconciliations, loan facilities and cash management.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• CPA (K), CPA or ACCA qualification (mandatory).
• Minimum 4-7 years of experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong experience in cost accounting and inventory management.
• Preferred: ability to work in a fast-paced production environment and strong leadership and team management skills.
