Senior Backend Engineer

About the role

Join M‑KOPA’s fast‑growing e‑mobility division as a Senior Backend Engineer. You will design and deliver event‑driven microservices that power Kenya’s leading e‑motorbike financing platform, directly impacting riders and entrepreneurs across Africa.

Key responsibilities

• Architect, develop, and maintain high‑performance .NET microservices on Azure.
• Implement event‑driven communication using Service Bus and comparable messaging systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ).
• Containerize applications with Docker and orchestrate them on Kubernetes.
• Ensure observability through Prometheus, Grafana and robust monitoring.
• Apply DevOps practices, infrastructure‑as‑code, and automated testing across all environments, including production.
• Collaborate with senior engineers to coach team members and uphold code quality.

Required profile

• 5+ years of professional software development experience, primarily in C#/.NET.
• Strong understanding of cloud platforms (Azure preferred, AWS or GCP acceptable).
• Experience building and operating event‑driven, microservice‑based systems.
• Comfort with full‑stack ownership from design to production monitoring.
