Senior Frontend Engineer – Contract (12 months)

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Frontend Engineer to join a Visa‑client joint tech squad on a 12‑month contract. The role focuses on delivering high‑quality, responsive features for the M‑Pesa app, working closely with backend engineers, UX/UI designers, and the Scrum Master in fortnightly agile sprints.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and enhance frontend features for push provisioning flows, including wallet UI, token management, and user consent screens.
• Integrate CyberSource (CYBS) payment services into the M‑Pesa app, building required UI components and user flows.
• Create and maintain frontend unit, integration, and end‑to‑end tests, contributing to automated UI testing frameworks.
• Implement analytics and event‑tracking instrumentation to support digital lift measurement.
• Collaborate with UI/UX designers to translate wireframes and prototypes into pixel‑accurate, responsive, and accessible implementations.
• Ensure code meets performance budgets for load time, rendering, and network efficiency.
• Work with backend engineers to consume API contracts and resolve integration issues.
• Produce component documentation, integration guides, and onboarding material for internal teams.

Required profile

• Minimum 6 years of professional frontend development experience (senior level).
• Proven experience delivering features in an agile, squad‑based environment.
• Ability to work onsite in Nairobi and collaborate with cross‑functional teams.
• Strong communication skills for knowledge transfer and documentation.
