Senior Internal Auditor

About the role

Bomet University College is recruiting a Senior Internal Auditor. The role covers the development, implementation and review of internal audit policies, strategies, procedures and plans in line with auditing standards, and provides assurance on risk management, control and governance within the University.

Key responsibilities

• Spearhead the review of budgetary performance, financial management, transparency and accountability mechanisms and processes
• Provide assurance on the state of risk management, control and governance
• Coordinate reviews of governance mechanisms and of the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework
• Ensure compliance with internal policies, procedures and statutory and regulatory requirements
• Evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls on financial and non-financial performance management systems
• Liaise with the Office of the Auditor General on implementing audit recommendations and validate audit reports
• Review customer satisfaction surveys of internal audit clients and the design and implementation of the Quality Assurance and Improvement Programme (QAIP)
• Benchmark against best practices and research emerging issues in internal audit
• Mentor, coach and develop staff in the department

Required profile

• Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Commerce, Business Management or Business Administration, or equivalent
• CPA(K) with 9 years of working experience, including 3 years as an Internal Auditor Scale 12 in an accredited university or equivalent
• Membership of ICPAK or the Institute of Internal Auditors of Kenya (IIAK) in good standing

Required skills

• Proficiency in relevant computer applications
• Integrated Data Extraction and Analysis (IDEA) – EAM MATE / TEAM MATE 4
