Senior Lawyer – Conveyancing & Commercial

About the role

We are a well‑established Nairobi law firm seeking a Senior Lawyer to join our team on a consultancy basis. The successful candidate will lead conveyancing, commercial and family law matters, providing expert advice to our diverse client base.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end‑to‑end conveyancing transactions, including sales, purchases, leases, charges and discharges.
• Conduct due‑diligence investigations and ensure timely execution and registration of all legal documents.
• Advise clients on legal processes involved in buying and selling property.
• Draft and review commercial agreements such as contracts, MOUs, NDAs and joint‑venture agreements, as well as property security documentation.
• Represent clients before the Companies Registry, Land Registries, Local Authorities, Survey of Kenya and the National Lands Commission.
• Provide legal opinions on property and real‑estate matters and liaise with mortgage lenders, estate agents, valuers and surveyors.
• Report progress in weekly meetings and keep the CRM updated.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from a recognised university.
• Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with a valid practising certificate.
• 5‑6+ years of experience in a busy law firm handling conveyancing, real‑estate and commercial practice.
• Strong knowledge of relevant legal and regulatory frameworks, research and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent client management, organisational and communication skills.
