Senior Lecturer

About the role

Laikipia University is recruiting a Senior Lecturer based in Nairobi (Westlands). The role combines teaching, research, supervision of students and academic service to the university.

Key responsibilities

• Lead curriculum development and review, develop learning and teaching materials, and deliver lectures to undergraduates and postgraduates
• Evaluate student coursework, maintain attendance and assessment records, and prepare progress reports
• Supervise postgraduate and undergraduate research, and supervise students on industrial attachment, teaching practice and internships
• Conduct academic seminars, internal exam moderation, and publish in peer-reviewed articles, books and book chapters
• Participate in research projects, academic consultancies, and provide expertise for university income-generation programmes
• Take part in senate, departmental and school meetings, academic clubs, and ad hoc and statutory university committees

Required profile

• Master's degree in the relevant field, and a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree from an accredited university
• At least 32 publication points, of which at least 24 from refereed scholarly journals
• Has supervised at least three postgraduate students to completion as a lecturer or equivalent
• Served in the grade of Lecturer or a comparable position for at least three years
• Certificate in Computer Applications from a recognised institution; registration with a professional body is an added advantage
