Senior Manager (Consultant) - Communications & Advocacy

About the role

Global Health Strategies (GHS) is looking for a Senior Manager (Consultant) based in Nairobi, Kenya, to work on communications, advocacy, media relations and event management for its clients. The role suits someone with strong people skills, client and project management experience and a strategic mindset, in an agile, fast-paced entrepreneurial environment. It is a hybrid arrangement with a start date to be confirmed.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement communications and advocacy strategies that showcase GHS's services and position it as a partner across Africa and beyond.
• Create and edit content such as key messages, fact sheets, speeches, press releases, media advisories, opinion pieces, web articles, social media posts and multimedia.
• Build media and stakeholder networks, draft pitches and pitch to reporters and editors, and promote clients' public profiles through speaking engagements and thought leadership.
• Support event management for clients, including agenda setting, speaker selection, partner engagement, content and post-event reporting.
• Track trends in global health, media and policy, and report on funding opportunities and coalition-building.
• Contribute to project strategy, manage project plans, budgets and timelines, and lead client and stakeholder meetings.

Required profile

• At least 10 years of experience designing and implementing communications and advocacy projects.
• Fluent English (written and spoken); French and Swahili are preferred.
• Post-graduate degree in Journalism, Business Administration, Public Health, Public Policy, Public Administration or a related field; bilingual English-French candidates with an advanced degree have an advantage.
• Experience organizing conferences and events, working with senior executives, and understanding public health issues across Africa.
• Able to work remotely.
