Senior Project Officer MEAL

About the role

Catholic Relief is hiring a Senior Project Officer MEAL for its project in Marsabit and Turkana, Kenya. The role is full time, on site in Nairobi, and covers coordination of project monitoring, evaluation, data collection and analysis, report preparation and tracking of programme outcomes. It requires a degree in Monitoring and Evaluation, Social Sciences, Statistics or a related field.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate county-level MEAL activities, performance data collection, validation, consolidation and analysis, and progress monitoring against indicators and targets
• Oversee county data management, including data entry, cleaning, validation, storage, analysis, indicator tracking tools, databases, dashboards and digital MEAL systems such as participant registration, QR-coded tracking and food distribution monitoring
• Conduct risk-based field monitoring, spot checks and verification visits, and support the Feedback, Complaints and Response Mechanism
• Support baselines, endlines, assessments, surveys and learning studies, and submit timely, validated reports for CRS, partners and donors
• Share lessons learned, support county MEAL planning and budgeting, and manage and safeguard MEAL equipment and resources
• Build relationships with implementing partners and county government counterparts, strengthen MEAL capacity through training and coaching, and supervise county MEAL staff and temporary enumerators

Required profile

• Master's degree in Monitoring and Evaluation, Statistics, International Development, Public Health, Food Security, Economics or a related field (bachelor's degree with additional relevant experience also acceptable)
• At least four years of NGO experience in MEAL, including indicator tracking, routine monitoring, data management and analysis, reporting and data quality assurance
• Experience with digital MEAL and information management systems, and with assessments, surveys and evaluations
• Experience working with implementing partners and communities, and supervising staff, enumerators or data collection teams
• Fluency in English and at least one local language; willingness to travel up to 60% regularly to Marsabit and Turkana
