Senior Quality Assurance Supervisor – Macadamia Processing

About the role

The Senior Quality Assurance Supervisor will lead the quality control function for the macadamia processing factory, ensuring that raw materials, in‑process products and finished nuts meet international standards and customer specifications. This onsite role combines hands‑on inspection, team leadership and continuous improvement of food safety systems.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee raw material intake, verifying quality attributes such as size, moisture content and SKR.
• Manage hourly sampling at critical stages (cracking, sorting, drying) and enforce sensory analysis for rancidity detection.
• Authorize hold/release decisions for batches that fail moisture or contamination limits.
• Conduct independent verification of Critical Control Point (CCP) records and monitor Operational Prerequisite Programs (OPRPs) like allergen controls and metal detection.
• Lead and coach QA inspectors and sanitation staff, maintain training matrices and schedule shift rotas to ensure continuous coverage.
• Review laboratory results, grading reports and packaging compliance before product release and maintain release documentation.

Required profile

• Minimum diploma or degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Agriculture or related field.
• At least 2 years of experience in food quality assurance, preferably in macadamia or nut processing.
• Proven people‑management experience supervising inspection teams.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to escalate deviations promptly.

Required skills

• Knowledge of ISO 22000, HACCP, FSSC 22000 or BRCGS food safety standards.
• Experience with CCP monitoring, PRP inspections and sensory analysis.
• Familiarity with macadamia processing operations and quality parameters.
• Ability to interpret laboratory data, moisture testing and grading reports.
