Senior Software Engineer - Remote

About the role

We Are Kusudi is hiring a Senior Software Engineer for a UK health and care tech startup that builds compliance and immigration technology helping care providers hire locally and internationally, automating Home Office requirements and right-to-work checks. The role is full-time and permanent, remote from Kenya, within a team of 7 engineers led by an experienced CTO.

Key responsibilities

• Own features end to end, from understanding the problem with stakeholders to shipping the solution
• Start from a feature goal and own the implementation through to rollout
• Make pragmatic scope calls when trading speed against completeness
• Build conversational AI that screens and supports care workers, document intelligence with OCR, extraction and validation, and integrations with the Home Office, the CQC and other sector systems

Required profile

• Designed, built and shipped production systems
• Has seen a startup grow to scale, managing technical debt and keeping systems reliable
• Enjoys talking to stakeholders and writing code others can understand and maintain
• Has worked remotely and communicates well asynchronously
• Thrives in early-stage environments; this is a senior role only

Required skills

• Backend: Node.js, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, GraphQL
• Frontend: SolidJS, TypeScript
• Infrastructure: AWS, Terraform
• Tools: Cursor, Linear, Notion, GitHub
• TypeScript and Node.js are preferred but not essential; ML/AI experience is a bonus
