Senior Strategy Associate – Sustainable Finance

About the role

Systemiq is seeking a Senior Strategy Associate to strengthen public and development finance strategies that drive climate, nature, and development outcomes in Kenya. You will work closely with governments, development finance institutions, donors, and private‑sector partners to mobilise capital and shape financing approaches.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and support workstreams delivering advisory support on public and development finance for climate and nature outcomes.
• Develop structured analysis and synthesize complex information into client‑ready outputs such as strategy decks, technical notes, and briefing packs.
• Drive work on sovereign financing strategies, considering macro‑economic context, sovereign risk, debt sustainability and credit dynamics.
• Help design, shape and assess financing instruments including concessional and blended finance, sustainability‑linked bonds/loans, debt‑for‑climate/nature swaps, and risk‑sharing structures.
• Manage stakeholder engagement across ministries, debt management offices, central banks, IFIs/DFIs, donors and private‑sector partners, facilitating workshops and convenings.
• Provide strategic insight and practical recommendations to support successful financing strategies.

Required profile

• Strong macro‑level strategic thinking combined with excellent research and analytical abilities.
• Proven experience in stakeholder engagement and clear communication in fast‑moving, multi‑stakeholder environments.
• Ability to deliver high‑quality outputs under tight timelines.
• Strategy consulting experience is welcome but not essential.
