Senior Strategy Consultant – Organizational Strategy Review (Africa)

About the role

Impact Lens Consulting seeks an experienced senior strategy consultant to lead a focused, evidence‑informed review of an existing multi‑year strategy for a major international NGO operating across Africa. The engagement is short‑term (approximately 12 weeks) and remote, with occasional travel for stakeholder meetings.

Key responsibilities

• Design and lead a structured, participatory review process from inception to final validation.
• Conduct a desk review of current strategic documents, implementation evidence, and relevant sector frameworks.
• Facilitate multi‑country stakeholder consultations (interviews, focus groups, surveys).
• Triangulate evidence to develop strategic options, outlining trade‑offs, feasibility, and resourcing implications.
• Facilitate a senior‑leadership direction‑setting session.
• Draft, validate, and finalize a revised strategy document, executive summary, and high‑level implementation roadmap.
• Report to the senior program leadership sponsor and work with an oversight steering committee.

Required profile

• Advanced degree (e.g., Master’s or PhD) with 15+ years of relevant experience.
• Proven track record in strategy review, organizational transformation, and multi‑country facilitation.
• Deep knowledge of African humanitarian, development, and civil‑society contexts.
• Familiarity with localization, decolonization, and partnership‑centered approaches in the INGO sector.
• Excellent research, analysis, prioritization, and executive‑level writing skills.
• Fluent English; professional French capacity strongly preferred.
• Prior experience with international federated/confederated organisations is a plus.
