Service Charge Accountant

About the role

The Service Charge Accountant maintains accurate financial records across a portfolio of client accounts, ensures strong financial controls, produces high-quality financial reporting and supports decision-making across operational teams. The role is fully remote.

Key responsibilities

• Complete monthly bank reconciliations, monitor service charge, reserve and client account balances, manage working capital and cash flow, and review income and expenditure postings for accuracy and lease compliance.
• Prepare financial information for monthly and quarterly client reporting, produce budget versus actual reports and variance analysis, and support Senior Client Accountants with data validation and reporting queries.
• Generate accurate service charge demands in line with budgets and lease requirements.
• Support annual budget preparation, maintain audit trails of budget amendments and ensure approved budgets are loaded correctly into systems.
• Prepare year-end audit packs to ETB level, liaise with auditors, investigate audit queries and deliver year-end outputs on time.
• Work with Senior Client Accountants, Property Managers and General Managers, and with auditors, finance and credit control teams, to provide financial insight and highlight risks.

Required profile

• 2 years of accounting experience; accounting in service charge or property management highly preferable.
• Strong reconciliation and financial control knowledge.
• Highly organised, with excellent attention to detail, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and proactive, accountable and collaborative attitude.
• Confident communicator with financial and non-financial stakeholders.

Required skills

• Good working knowledge of Qube or similar accounting systems.
• Strong Excel skills.

• Salary negotiable up to R40,000 per month depending on experience.
