Shipping Agent – Lamu (M/F)

About the role

East Africa Commercial and Shipping (EACS), a subsidiary of Africa Global Logistics based in Mombasa, Kenya, is looking for a Shipping Agent for Lamu. The company specialises in bulk cargo and is a member of the Kenya Shippers Association. The position is full-time under a fixed-term contract.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate inward and outward vessel clearance with port authorities and attend vessel boarding for arrival and departure formalities.
• Ensure timely submission and processing of vessel documentation and monitor loading and discharge activities.
• Liaise with port authorities, customs, immigration, port health and marine authorities, and manage vessel clearance documentation and sailing clearance.
• Maintain communication with principals, vessel masters, ship owners and charterers, and coordinate stevedores, ship chandlers, bunkering suppliers and transport providers.
• Prepare Daily Vessel Movement Reports (DMR), Statements of Facts (SOF) and discharge/loading reports, and track cargo discrepancies such as short or excess landings.
• Request marine and port charges, follow up on port invoices and coordinate payment processing.
• Supervise cargo discharge and loading, coordinate with forwarders and transporters, and monitor cargo condition.
• Ensure compliance with company QHSE standards and report operational incidents or safety risks.

Required profile

• Diploma in Shipping or Maritime Operations.
• Minimum 2-3 years' experience in shipping agency, port operations or maritime logistics.
• Experience working with port authorities and vessel operations.

Required skills

• Knowledge of port tariffs, vessel clearance procedures and cargo operations.
