Social Media Volunteer

About the role

DigiRoots is seeking a remote Social Media Volunteer to help grassroots and youth‑led organizations amplify their stories online. You will work closely with the communications team to plan, create, and schedule content across multiple platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Draft and schedule posts for Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and X.
• Select or coordinate visuals and repurpose stories from partner organizations.
• Maintain a consistent brand voice and visual style.
• Monitor engagement, respond to basic comments or messages, and flag insights for the team.
• Assist with simple analytics reporting and research on social media trends.
• Support online campaigns and digital storytelling initiatives.

Required profile

• Strong interest or experience in social media marketing for mission‑driven initiatives.
• Foundational knowledge of digital marketing principles, especially for nonprofits.
• Excellent written communication and ability to translate complex ideas into clear posts.
• Reliable, organized, and able to work independently in a remote, collaborative environment.
• Interest in social impact, youth‑led projects, or grassroots organizing.

Required skills

• Comfort using social media management tools such as Meta Business Suite and Buffer.
• Basic familiarity with analytics dashboards.
• Basic design skills with tools like Canva.
