Software Development Supervisor (National)

About the role

The Software Development Supervisor leads the design, development and deployment of software applications for Church World Service in Kenya. Reporting to the Software Development Manager, the role oversees a team of IT developers, integrates security throughout the software development lifecycle and supports field operations with reliable technology solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Direct early‑stage product development, including idea screening, technical feasibility studies and concept development.
• Lead the design of system specifications, standards and architecture to ensure scalability and performance.
• Champion a DevSecOps culture by embedding secure coding practices, automated security testing and compliance checks into CI/CD pipelines.
• Architect end‑to‑end software solutions based on stakeholder consultations and detailed analysis of system flows and data usage.
• Identify and mitigate technical bottlenecks early in the software development lifecycle.
• Standardize documentation by creating high‑level layouts, system diagrams and architectural charts.
• Provide oversight and support for operational improvements and policy recommendations.

Required profile

• Proven experience supervising software developers and managing full software development lifecycles.
• Strong understanding of security integration within SDLC and experience leading secure design reviews.
• Ability to conduct technical feasibility assessments and drive concept development.
• Experience architecting scalable, performant software solutions.
• Excellent communication skills for stakeholder engagement and documentation.
