SOIL Mentor – Marsabit (Hurri Hills)

About the role

The Boma Project is looking for community‑based mentors to implement the SOIL program in Marsabit County. As a field‑based mentor you will guide participants through monthly coaching, training, and market linkages to achieve nutrition, livelihood, and child‑well‑being outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Mobilise, target and enrol households into the SOIL cohort.
• Facilitate formation and strengthening of VSLA groups.
• Provide business coaching, entrepreneurship training and nutrition‑sensitive guidance.
• Connect participants to markets, financial services and private‑sector partners.
• Monitor progress, collect data and report to the Field Officer.
• Coordinate with local government structures and community leaders.

Required profile

• Member of the local community with deep understanding of cultural norms and language.
• Experience in community mobilisation, group facilitation or small‑scale enterprise support.
• Ability to travel within the project area and work independently in the field.

Required skills

• Strong facilitation and coaching abilities.
• Basic data collection and reporting skills.
• Knowledge of nutrition‑sensitive interventions and natural‑resource management is an advantage.
