SOIL Program Mentor – Marsabit (Loiyangalani)

About the role

The SOIL Program Mentor will support the implementation of the SOIL initiative in Marsabit County, focusing on nutrition, food security and livelihood development. Working directly in the Loiyangalani community, the mentor provides hands‑on coaching, training and market linkage to participating households.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver monthly coaching, mentorship and facilitation sessions to program participants.
• Mobilise, target and enrol households into the programme and form/strengthen VSLA groups.
• Provide business coaching, monitor progress of enterprises and collect relevant data.
• Link participants to markets, financial services and private‑sector partners.
• Coordinate with local government structures and other community stakeholders to ensure programme alignment.
• Report regularly to the Field Officer on activities, challenges and outcomes.

Required profile

• Member of the Loiyangalani community with a clear understanding of local culture, language and geography.
• Proven experience in community‑based mentorship, facilitation or extension services.
• Ability to work independently in a remote field setting and travel within the project area.
• Strong communication skills and capacity to build trust with households and local institutions.
