Solvent Extraction Supervisor

About the role

The Solvent Extraction Supervisor will manage the safe, efficient and consistent operation of the solvent extraction plant, ensuring production output, oil recovery, meal quality and compliance with safety, quality and environmental standards.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise daily solvent extraction operations from flaking through extraction, de‑solventising, solvent recovery and oil/meal handling.
• Monitor critical process parameters (temperature, pressure, flow, level, throughput) to meet production, oil recovery and quality targets.
• Lead shift operators, manage handovers, train staff on SOPs, safety and troubleshooting.
• Ensure strict compliance with safety procedures for hexane and other flammable solvents, including PPE, Permit‑to‑Work, LOTO and emergency response.
• Coordinate with QA/QC to verify oil and meal quality and implement corrective actions for deviations.
• Work with maintenance to monitor equipment condition, support shutdowns, preventive maintenance and safe isolation of plant equipment.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years (60 months) experience in solvent extraction or similar manufacturing environment.
• Proven supervisory experience managing shift teams in a production setting.
• Strong knowledge of safety and environmental requirements for hexane handling.
• Ability to analyse process data and take corrective actions to minimise downtime.
