Job description

About the role

The University of the People, a non-profit, tuition-free, accredited online university, is looking for a Sourcing Specialist for its Academic Recruitment function. The role supports the global faculty and instructor recruitment strategy by identifying, engaging and building pipelines of qualified academic professionals and subject-matter experts, focusing on Nigeria and other designated markets. It suits a recruitment professional with 2-4 years of experience who can work independently in a remote, international setting.

Key responsibilities

  • Set and meet weekly and monthly targets for candidates sourced, contacted, qualified and recruited.
  • Own the recruitment pipeline end to end, from sourcing and screening through to application completion, qualification verification and handover to onboarding.
  • Convert interested academics into qualified instructor applicants by explaining the university's mission and volunteer teaching model.
  • Build relationships with university placement officers, faculty coordinators, academic departments and local representatives to promote the university and generate referrals.
  • Plan, run and follow up on monthly virtual recruitment drives targeting faculty, students and alumni in Nigeria, Ghana and Kenya.
  • Build discipline-specific talent pipelines aligned with current and anticipated course requirements, including postgraduate qualifications.
  • Track sourcing-to-application, application-to-qualified-candidate and qualified-candidate-to-hire conversion rates and act on bottlenecks.
  • Follow up with prospects to reduce drop-offs and ensure timely submission of applications and credentials.

Required profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, Education or a related field preferred.
  • 2-4 years of experience in recruitment, talent sourcing, research or candidate pipeline development.
  • Experience sourcing candidates via LinkedIn, Boolean search, job portals, university websites, professional networks and referrals.
  • Prior experience recruiting faculty, lecturers, instructors, researchers or other academic professionals is a strong advantage.
  • Strong written and verbal English, ability to manage several vacancies and work independently in a remote environment across time zones.

Required skills

  • Talent sourcing and candidate screening; high-volume recruitment and personalized outreach.
  • Familiarity with applicant tracking systems (ATS), candidate databases and recruitment reporting.
  • Proficiency in talent mapping, spreadsheets and recruitment analytics.
