About the role
The Wage and Hour Division seeks a Supervisory Wage and Hour Specialist to lead the construction wage determination program and enforce key labor statutes affecting millions of workers. This senior position guides policy development, oversees staff performance, and provides technical expertise to legal and contracting partners.
Key responsibilities
- Advise on new or revised policies and procedures for construction wage determinations and develop uniform guidelines.
- Recommend hiring, promotion, or separation actions; conduct performance evaluations and manage leave authorizations.
- Provide technical assistance to the Office of the Solicitor on wage determination cases before the Wage Appeals Board and in administrative or court hearings.
- Maintain liaison with government contracting agencies, contractors, labor organizations, and industry associations to ensure consistent application of wage determinations.
- Develop and implement strategic work plans for the Wage Survey Program, identify resource needs, and allocate resources effectively.
- Assess and propose organizational changes impacting operating costs and personnel structures.
Required profile
- U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain required security clearance.
- Minimum 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal Service.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise staff, evaluate performance, and handle employee complaints.
- Experience preparing testimony and technical assistance for wage appeals and legal proceedings.
- Strong knowledge of federal labor laws, construction wage determinations, and related regulatory frameworks.
