Technical Sales Engineer – Optical Networking

About the role

The ON Technical Sales Engineer designs innovative optical networking solutions and leads pre‑sales technical support for Nokia customers in Kenya. This full‑time position is based in Nairobi and requires a strong background in telecom engineering and hands‑on experience with optical network design.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver optical network solutions that meet customer business and technical requirements.
• Act as a trusted technical advisor, building strong relationships with customers and key stakeholders.
• Lead solution architecture and respond to RFPs, influencing network design decisions and winning strategies.
• Guide customers on network evolution, recommending scalable, future‑ready architectures.
• Drive adoption of Nokia’s optical portfolio and identify opportunities for business growth.
• Manage new product introductions, roadmap discussions, and capture customer technical requirements.

Required profile

• Telecom or Engineering degree with at least 3 years of pre‑sales experience.
• Strong problem‑solving, analytical, and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Excellent communication and presentation abilities, capable of influencing customer decisions.

Required skills

• Expertise in Optical Networking technologies, including network architecture, transport solutions, and optical design principles.
• Hands‑on experience designing and optimizing optical networks.
• Proven experience with Nokia 1830 PSS and deep knowledge of Nokia optical products.
• Experience supporting RFPs, bid responses, and pre‑sales technical engagements.
