Technical Sector Officer – Livestock (AIM Program)

About the role

The Technical Sector Officer – Livestock will support the AIM programme’s livestock and TVET activities in Kenya, ensuring timely delivery of livelihood, market development and training interventions. The role works closely with the Technical Coordinator and Regional Manager to design, implement and monitor assets, trainings and market linkages for adolescent girls and young women.

Key responsibilities

• Support planning and delivery of livestock and poultry livelihood activities, including training, asset procurement, transfer, follow‑up and market linkages.
• Develop and contextualise livelihood pathway training modules, train frontline staff, and coordinate participant training roll‑out and logistics.
• Assist with budgeting, asset mapping, procurement, distribution and management, and conduct localized market assessments.
• Facilitate connections to small businesses, apprenticeships and entrepreneurship opportunities, and support the selection and training of Community Livestock Promoters.
• Compile and disseminate national livestock regulations, ensure compliance, and integrate GESI considerations into program activities.

Required profile

• Minimum three years of experience in livelihood or economic development programmes, preferably with livestock components.
• Experience providing technical assistance, developing training materials and facilitating trainings.
• Background in animal health, animal husbandry, DVM or related field is required.
• Demonstrated ability to work with women‑focused programmes and to incorporate gender and social inclusion considerations.
