Technical Service Manager – Medical Equipment

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Technical Service Manager to lead our Technical Services / Biomedical Engineering function in Nairobi. The role oversees installation, commissioning, preventive and corrective maintenance, calibration and repair of a wide range of medical equipment, ensuring high uptime, customer satisfaction and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the biomedical engineering team, develop service strategies, annual plans, budgets and performance targets.
• Plan, supervise and ensure proper installation and commissioning of medical equipment, including pre‑site assessments.
• Develop and monitor preventive maintenance programmes and manage breakdowns, corrective maintenance and technical escalations.
• Manage warranties, service level agreements, annual maintenance contracts and spare‑parts inventory.
• Maintain strong relationships with equipment manufacturers, coordinate training, warranty claims and equipment upgrades.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical, Medical, Electrical/Electronic, Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 7 years experience in medical equipment servicing, installation and maintenance.
• At least 3 years in a supervisory/management role within biomedical engineering or healthcare technology.
• Professional registration or eligibility for registration in Kenya and a valid driving licence.

Required skills

• Biomedical engineering and troubleshooting of medical devices.
• Installation, commissioning and calibration of radiology, diagnostic imaging, laboratory, dialysis, theatre, critical‑care, endoscopy, ultrasound and sterilisation equipment.
• Preventive and corrective maintenance planning and execution.
• Service contract, SLA and warranty management.
• Spare‑parts and inventory management, project management and budgeting.
• Use of service‑management, CRM and ERP systems.
