Tooling Technician

About the role

Burn is seeking a Tooling Technician to maintain, repair, and manufacture sheet‑metal stamping tools, jigs and fixtures that support efficient production. The role focuses on minimizing downtime, improving tooling performance and ensuring safe, cost‑effective, high‑quality work.

Key responsibilities

• Repair and maintain sheet‑metal stamping tools, jigs and assembly fixtures.
• Perform planned preventive maintenance and respond to breakdowns, diagnosing faults at the press to minimise production loss.
• Report root causes, equipment faults and management concerns.
• Maintain high‑quality standards and comply with quality regulations.
• Identify spare‑part requirements and manage inventory levels.
• Own a smaller, less complex tool suite, developing and maintaining its performance with minimal supervision.
• Manufacture new press tooling, jigs and fixtures to support production.
• Record tooling data in the Tool Room database and work within basic cost/budget measures.
• Apply 5S methodology to keep the workplace organised and clean.

Required profile

• Ability to operate mechanical workshop machines such as lathe, milling machine and surface grinder.
• Strong hands‑on skills with hand tools and bench fitting.
• Good understanding of machining processes, materials and sheet‑metal tool manufacturing.
• Analytical and problem‑solving mindset with mechanical aptitude.
• Well‑organized, team‑oriented and able to work with minimal supervision.
