Trailer Technician

About the role

We are looking for a Trailer Technician to perform preventative maintenance and repairs on company tractors and trailers. The role involves diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues, using both hand‑tool techniques and computer‑based diagnostic programs, to keep our fleet operating safely and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Repair and maintain tractors and trailers using hand tools, precision measuring instruments, and machine tools.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair electrical circuits with diagnostic software and wiring schematics.
• Perform routine inspections of brakes, wheel bearings, electrical and air systems.
• Address engine, driveline, and ABS issues using mechanical knowledge and diagnostic programs.
• Set up and operate cutting, welding, and metal‑fabrication equipment as needed for repairs.
• Recondition, replace, or repair parts and document maintenance activities.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Technical school degree or prior tractor/trailer repair experience.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Strong attention to detail and good oral/written communication.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced, physically demanding environment.
• Physical capability to stand, climb, stoop, lift 100 lb repeatedly and work overhead.

Required skills

• Proficiency with hand tools, precision measuring instruments and machine tools.
• Experience using computer‑based diagnostic software and reading wiring schematics.
• Ability to operate cutting, welding and metal‑fabrication equipment.
• Knowledge of brake, wheel bearing, electrical, air, engine, driveline and ABS systems.
