Travelling Tunnelling Foreman / Pit Boss – UK

About the role

Joseph Gallagher is seeking experienced Tunnelling Foremen, Pit Bosses and Supervisors for travelling assignments across the United Kingdom. You will lead teams on critical civil‑engineering projects, ensuring safe and efficient execution of tunnelling works while maintaining high productivity standards.

Key responsibilities

• Manage Gangers and Lead Miners on site.
• Control day‑to‑day lifting operations in line with the appointed person’s guidelines.
• Oversee workplace transport within your area of responsibility.
• Ensure provision and correct use of personal protective equipment.
• Maintain accurate written records and site diaries.
• Organise and timely supply of materials to the work face.
• Provide expert advice, support and guidance to the workforce during daily activities.

Required profile

• Previous supervisory experience with a focus on health and safety on construction sites.
• CSCS Site Supervisor qualification.
• SMSTS or SSSTS certification.
• Demonstrated tunnelling experience.
