Underwriting Analyst - Health Insurance

About the role

A leading financial and health insurance company, recruited through Stratostaff East Africa, is looking for an Underwriting Analyst based in Nairobi. The role supports risk management by assessing applicants' eligibility for medical cover, analysing scheme performance, proposing renewal terms and administering schemes for existing members.

Key responsibilities

• Keep accurate records of health business policies and underwriting decisions (medical and physical files)
• Assist in underwriting health insurance risks
• Analyse scheme performance and propose renewal terms
• Help prepare quotations and policy documents, including endorsements, debits and credit notes
• Dispatch new business and renewal documents within set timeframes and assist in renewals
• Handle client correspondence and queries, and prepare reports as needed
• Manage debt at entry and renewal in line with credit policy, and implement policy suspensions and cancellations
• Liaise with departments and the TCF provider so providers keep updated scheme and membership records
• Reconcile smart application and Medware records for data consistency

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in insurance or a related business discipline
• Progress towards a Diploma in Insurance (ACII or AIIK), at least three papers or equivalent
• 2 years of experience in the insurance industry
